Someone here said I could get my tirees off, without removing the wheel(it's gotta be heavy).
Does someone know a way to break the bead loose, without having the wheel off.. I think I can
get the tire off, if get the bead loose. I just replaced front tires & tubes on my TO30.
thanks.

We use steel wood splitting wedges. I use 3 and drive them side beside. If the bead doesnt break I drive one on top of the other for more thickness. You can also use a spray bottle with soap or diesel fuel to squirt into the bead area for help breaking the bead. Good luck and let us know how you do. Nick

Well, I have one side all done. btw, What do these solid front wheels weigh ??
and No, I did not remove it !! I used a 5ft 2x6, angle cut on it's end to slide into the nip,
when I pushed on the other end with my TO30 Fergie ! Sorta like a ram. but it easily
pushed the tire off the bead. Moved around to the other side and was able to slip the 2x6 in past
the other tire and push the inner side off too. Then is was just tire tools and sweat !!
First time I wish it was a single front wheel... ha (DC-3)

150 lbs each. We used to turn them around in the winter so our Missouri mud was less able to ball up between the tires. It would give about 12 inches between the wheels. Not exactly a wide front, but as close as we could get. If we had to change a tire Dad used to use a jack like a handyman between the tires to pull the inside bead off and a golden rod fence stretcher to pull the outside bead off.

when I was about 16 or 17 I loaded one in the back of a pickup by myself. The tire guy told me I was no longer a bou.

Had you called tire service truck he would have used a duck billed slide hammer about 5 feet long and one inch thick. They work real slick on front or rear tires. If the tires were to be replaced, I would have drained the air and drove in circle eight pattern until all the beads were broke. Take pride in getting the job done with what you had and a little gray matter! chuck.
