510b ring gear needed

Hello, I have a 510b tractor that snapped the starter bell nose a couple of times. I've welded it back together and it's working for now. I've been told this is probably happening because the ring gear teeth are worn down. So my question is, can the ring gear be flipped over to use the other side if it is good? Are ring gears still available for this tractor? How many teeth are supposed to be on the ring gear and how many on the starter? could there be something else causing the starter knows to snap?

The 2 main reasons I have seen for breaking a starter nose are Hitting the starter while the engine is still turning and the bendix gear on the starter being worn
badly.

Pull the starter, turn the engine over a little at a time by hand, examine the entire ring gear. Use flashlights, mirrors, magnifying glasses as necessary, but don't split your tractor just because somebody told you they think you need a ring gear.

thanks for the info. From what I can remember the teeth didn't look to bad when I pulled the starter last time it broke. I've also had it rebuilt. Could the flywheel bolts come loose causing the ring gear to wobble? I'm out of town working right now I will have to check when I get home in a month or two.

Could they come loose? Yes of course. Is it likely? No. Also easily checked through the starter hole. FWIW I usually use Loktite blue threadlocker on them. Everyone seems to want red, a stronger formula, but I've drilled out too many broken bolts. Blue is almost always enough.
