Transporting a Baler

I new this was going to be close, but did not like the idea of pulling it nearly 200 mi. Both tires are hanging off the trailer. The fella backed it on the trailer straighter than I could have and being a trucker helped chain it down in the correct locations. It rode perfectly and I was able to get it off the trailer without a tire slipping off a side. Rod.

He did a good job backing it on.
Nice baler, that's the first one I've ever seen with dual wheels.

When I bought my NH BR7070 round baler we hooked it to the pickup and towed it 290 miles to get it home, all secondary roads running 45-50 mph, it's illegal to tow ag equipment on interstate highways, that would have cut 20-25 miles off the trip

donethat also butt we would put blocks under it then tie down to keep bounce out, the bounce is what will make it shift, gald you made it

a little off topic, but, I just completed a sheetmetal cover for the knotters on my NH 269. Wow Case had it figured out. Keep those knotters out of the weather best you can. At the present time my baler sets out side. Exposed to the elements. While I clean all hay from chute and gathering areas and blow it clean at the end of each cut. I still thought a little more protection for the knotters would be good. Glad to see that there is a way to trailer a baler. Thanks for the pictures and your continued sharing of knowledge. gobble

Tom a few guys mentioned in some baling conditions to leave the knotter cover off to prevent chaff build up. But would be a great idea to have one on for outdoor storage, Rod.

Good to see you got it home ok. I would have jacked it up and set it on blocks and could remove tires or leave them on.With tires off you would have any thing hanging over edge of trailer.

I've hauled a few of those balers with an older 8 foot trailer. Not fun. The newer 8'6" trailers make all the difference.
Here's one of mine similar to yours only it's a bit older baler with a bit newer launcher. My 330 baler has the newer tire track logos but it looked like a heck of a job to switch the launcher over to it so it'll stay on the 230 for now. Haven't used it yet as I don't have a bale wagon with a cage. But I imagine it sure would be funny to see it launch bales up and over the wagons I have. Hee hee.

I leave the cover off when I am baling, and put it back on when I am done. Also, my bale thrower does such a precise job I do not need a regular cage wagon, though it does cost $$$ per hour, and I don't know what I will do when the baler thrower graduates from college and gets a steady job!

When I've hauled bales, I take the tongue off, then rotate the pickup side forward and the chamber side backward, to get more of the wheels on the trailer.

Very nice baler Rod. I bet she quickly went into the shed. Look forward to more pics.

Brad we would love to see some pics of bales being launched, looks like you might not want to get the baler dirty. I have already removed the launcher from this baler. Did the packet of pics get to you?

It did go in the shed right away Dan. I have removed the launcher already and am going to replace the roller brgs on the plunger, Rod.

Yes they did and thank you. Haven't had much time to study them yet.
I'll have something in the mail for you also pretty soon.
Thanks a bunch.

When I was in high school, my girlfriends dad had a Case baler. It worked pretty well, but if I remember right the launcher had an unusual method of operation. I think a spring would charge, then when tripped it would pull a cable that would spin the launcher chain. I may be way off - it was a long time ago, and I was a little preoccupied..
