Craigs list Case 195?

I know there are others here, that if it was closer, it would be gone! I would love to have it, what a deal.

Look closely. It says $800, not $8. Is that still a good deal? I don't pay attention to garden tractors so I don't know.

Good Grief!! Isn't this interesting. I checked that link and found out where it is. That's basically where I was born and I just left there 2 days ago. SO....I called a friend and tractor collector there. He called the seller. I know the seller. He's in an independent car dealership I've known for the past 40 years. I've bought my last 3 vehicles from them. So the seller is holding that little Case for me and my friend over there will look at it and report. I'll certainly get it unless there is a real surprise I cannot see from here.

Anyone recognize what model it is? Maybe it's a little late to ask, but was that a good model? The Kohler I don't worry about, the rest.....?

Dennis in WA state....getting excited that I might have a made for my 1953 SC Case.

Dennis, it sure looks like a 195, in fact I would bet on it, but there is a serial # plate on it I think below the steering column, I know others that have one and could help here.
I would buy it right now, if I was close. That was the biggest garden tractor Case built at that time

Thanks, Ande. I've been looking up 195 photos, etc. Lots of photos out there. I've looked at TractorData, etc., and >cannot< find the weight of a 195! Or, the overall length. I'm trying in my mind to comprehend just how big it is and can't quite grasp it. I'm also digging in to whether Case actually built it or a smaller tractor manufacturer built it. i.e.: I know Jacobsen built garden tractors that were Oliver marked/painted.

In most of the 195 photos I've now seen, the, "195," model number appeared clearly on the side of the hood. Can't see that on this one. Yet it looks awfully crisp to have been repainted.

Still learning about Case 195's. So far, the major downside I'm hearing that they are prone to breaking rear axles and replacements are now non-existent. While I have no need to use one hard, I'd hate to have that happen and my $800 is wasted and I'm left with an ornament. I would like to use it some.

Again, still learning and hoping to hear more from 195 owners.

The three attachments alone are worth the 800. And the tractor has hydraulic lift for the attachments which not all had including the my two 195s and my 155. I'd love to have that hydraulic lift. The tractor has been molested some cosmetically but nothing that can't be made right. Wrong seat, exhaust, paint scheme and decals but nothing that effects performance. Good tractors. Never heard of busted axles but there's tons of salvage tractors around if you get into the world of case/colt/ingersoll collector groups. Also quite a few guys selling original parts and reproduction parts. Good luck.

Here's a picture for size comparison. A 195 will fit in the back of a pickup.
The tractor to its left is a 430, case's smallest field tractor at the time.

Not sure Dan, I'm not up on the GTs very well but I sure wouldn't be afraid of this tractor at that price, even if it had a broken axle. :)

Couldn't agree more Brad, I carry a "special" checkbook with me to grab these kind of deals.
As you mention Brad, there is some cosmetics going on, but all of that can be corrected.

Hey Dennis keep us posted.

Yes, I agree the attachments are alone worth the $800.. This unit also has the flow control option along with the power lift.. that makes the package MUCH more desirable. Yes the 190/195's were prone to breaking the rear axles and no they are not the same as the newer units. (400 series) The splines on the inside are a standard spline and they can be remade. Go get that thing and enjoy! you will love it! Once you do, join the Case Colt Ingersoll web forum.. the guys on there will help you with any issues that may crop up.

I bought it!!!!!
Telephone conference with my friend checking out the 195, and then with the seller, who, as I've said here already, I realized I know personally. Am getting check in the mail. All of us know each other, so should be no surprises.

Oh, .. I guess there actually is one surprise: after I made the deal and committed, seller mentioned a front blade comes with it too, hydraulically operated.

I'm thrilled. Now to make the 300 mile trip to pick it up. Might have to wait until after wheat harvest here. First year for me to not work harvest driving truck, but offered to be around if they get in a bind.

Yes, tractor is a 195. Serial number is 9620449. Now to find out if this s/n can tell me anything, like approx. year of mfg., etc. Thoughts?

Very glad you got it Dennis, I don't have my book here, but tomorrow if someone hasn't replied I will. You got a great package, and we will all love the pictures!
Dan

Dennis, glad you got it, I wanted it bad myself but no need for it or place to put it as I live in town, garage is already too small with my 48 GMC in there, though it would look great at shows with a Case 195 loaded in the back. I'm about 35 miles from Sedro Wooly.

Thanks for the post. So are you in Whatcom County? Your '48 GMC caught my attention. I have a '49 GMC 300 1.5 ton, 5-window in good shape, (except for paint, but no rust). My 1953 Case SC is happy it's going to have a little brother.
Dennis, (born and raised in Skagit County)

That's a great looking truck and photo. Love it. Don't have a shot of my GMC handy, but yours looks a bit better. Lake Stevens. Many years ago, out from you on Highway 9, was the, "B&M Shopping Center." Good grocery and they had a nice little cafe there. Loved to grab a hamburger there. Long gone. We used to live just off 9, on Lauck Road, (sp?), north of there. Very long straight stretch on Highway 9 by that road. Many weekends we heard drag racing on that straight road. Too many cars now.
