Sorry, this is going to be long. Lost Case VAO family tractor few years back in estate settlement, but loved the tractor and bought another this spring. A couple questions: It's been twenty years since changed our old VAO to 12 volt, process is single wire chevy alt. 12 volt coil, 12 volt battery, and change alt. lead to other side of ammeter?, since original manual went with tractor I only have an early shop manual that says 140 wt. oil in tranny and torque tube. But I have 12 gallons of twenty wt. oil in shop that I'm pretty sure was for the old vao. What am I missing? Clicking noise in rear end tranny area could be because it is low on oil I hope? "New" one has 24" wheels and tires. Is there a favorite place to get the 28" setup so it doesn't look like it is running uphill all the time?
Thanks in advance

80/90 gear oil would go in the trans. and rear-end. Clicking noise could be a chipped gear in the transmission. Take the four bolts out and pull the shifter cover off. You will see the gears. To change to 28" wheels you will need to change the wheel centers. Maybe the front tires are too big....probably should be 5.50x15 double or tripple ribbed tires.

I have 4 VAC tractors and 1 VAI. The VAI has 24 inch rears and 2 of the VAC have 28 inch and one has 32 inch and the other had 38 inch rims. I would sell the 32 or the 38 inch rims and center but unless your close shipping could be a high $$ thing

Thanks for the reply. Really want 28's but appreciate the offer. I'm hoping it will fill the old one's role as our tedder/raker tractor. I'm in western wa btw.

I use one of my VAC for rake duty and it does real good. If you where closer I have a VAC that I would sell for around $500 but being as your at least 1500 miles from me your not likely to want it LOL. My daughter live around Gram WA by the way

A salvage yard that has older tractors will more than likely have several VAC's to choose wheels and rims from. VAC's came with just about every size rear tire from 24" to 34" depending upon the model and intended use. Don
