Wico mag trouble

This morning I went to reinstall an almost new wico
mag and it had no spark. The mag itself is a year
and a half old and had less than an hour of running
time on it. I bought it got the tractor running and
then took the tractor apart to repaint it. I checked
the internal and everything I looks new, no corrosion
or dirt. Is there anything I am missing? Thanks.

I would bet the points are dirty. I like to clean the points with 400 or finer sandpaper. Then I use a business card to wipe the contacts. Put the business card between the contacts. Pinch them together and pull the card out. Good chance you will see a black streak on the card. That is the dirt corrosion you didn't see or remove with the sandpaper.

Due to the fact 99% of the time the point sit closed then tend to corrode from sitting and you stand a very good chance either a good cleaning of the points with a simple points file which a good auto parts store will have for around a buck or a new set of points will fix it
