1964 case 430 3 point hitch problem

Hey guys, so my tractor is acting up, the 3 point will go up, but when going up it spews oil out of the breather under the seat, then it goes down slowly and jumps back up, while it bounces back up it pumps oil out of the breather, I find it weird because the loader works great, any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you had to add hydraulic oil to the torque tube w/o any external leaks noted? Check your transmission oil level. I think you may find it over full and the breather overflow is the transmission vent. Hydraulic oil can migrate from the torque tube to the transmission in order of frequency via defective hitch piston seals, PTO/main shaft seal, and/or main shaft seal on front of the transmission.

Thanks for the input, we noticed the back was way overfilled, we got it to the proper level and the hyd. to the the proper level and everything seems fine now, think the previous owner just overfilled it, we will work it for a little and double check everything after

I have a 1961 530 and has migrated oil from torque tube to rear end for donkeys years but never had oil blow out. Just keep an eye on the levels and change occasionaly. Can't be lift cylinder as it never drops so presume an internal seal leak.

I would get to the bottom of it if I was you. I had oil migrating from the front to the back on my 530 for years and I gave up on it. just kept draining oil out of the back and pouring it in the front. I finally decided to tackle it this spring and found the seal and seal housing for the pto shaft had walked backward off the main transmission shaft allowing oil to flow back into the rear end. the worst part of it is that seal housing will grind against your ring gear and get all chewed up and as bits of it break off they will go between the bull gear and pinion gears in the final drive and chip teeth off. if you pull the top cover off now you can just drive it back on. or you could wait like I did and ruin your whole rear end.

^^^^^^ This is spot on. It's not a hard fix, and needs to be resolved before bigger problems are created. It's the PTO shaft seal, seal housing, or the seal(s) on the rock shaft piston are the only three possibilities of your oil migration.

Thanks for all the help and info guys, I'll tear it apart today and see if I see anything, our case store is closed today so if it is a bad seal then it will have to wait till tomorrow

The usual way to check hitch piston seals is to put the draft arms up with a little weight. Generally leave it up overnight if it isn't noticeably leaking down sooner. If the draft arms stay up, the seals are not leaking. If they drop the seals are leaking bye into the transmission or the drop can be also be caused by oil bleeding back to the torque tube via leaking interlock and control valve. It is usually the piston seals.

The next most likely oil migration source is through the pto shaft/main shaft seal/housing leaking/adrift located at the front of differential cavity (pic). While you have the lift piston assembly out, check for oil leakage through this seal. Ensure the torque tube sump is full, dry the seal area and watch for oil seepage. You can run the engine a couple minutes to rotate the shaft and shutdown. The slightest smear of oil leak will be a lot of oil over time.

The least likely leak is the transmission main drive shaft O.D. seal at the front of the transmission.

I had to machine a new seal housing for mine from scratch, the seal is an oddball double lip seal. I found a new old stock one on ebay. here is the thread from when i did mine
