Auction Price Case 830

I was at an auction near Westmoreland Ks Saturday and watched a decent looking (stored inside) gas 830 sell - $2100 - at first it looked like it was going to sell for $1500. Everything appeared to work - it was started (fired right up) moved forward and stopped (they didn't use reverse) and raised the 3 point. Back tires were worn but no cracks - from tires came off a pickup. Decent price?

The auctioneer didn't do the seller any favors on this sale. Nothing was represented as working and the 80 some year old owner was never asked when something was last used.

Seems a little high for a gas 830. Maybe somebody in the crowd was real confident as to the condition. I've seen fairly straight diesel 830's go for 1,750 to 2,000 dollars.

Tires are most of the value of tractors like this. A tractor that needs 4 tires isn't worth much, in my opinion.....the buyer is going to put $1500 or so into new tires.

If you are just using it for hay it wouldn't need tires for quite a while. I had some seriously dry rotted tires on my Farmall for a few years while I waited to come across a matching pair of 13.6 38s - finally found them at an auction - picked them up for $30 - the new tubes cost quite a bit more.

That's just too much for a gas 830. I paid $2300 for a diesel 830 a few years ago. Had to go get it in Breckinridge, Michigan. Ran great but I really hated that hydraulic clutch pedal. No way to feather it. It's either off or full speed ahead.
