Cutting Hay

I picked up a Hesston 1120 haybine earlier this month. Manual said you need 30 HP to pull it, so I put my 430 on it. Worked that little tractor real hard, so I switched to the 630. That's the ticket!

Nice tractor, and as others mentioned haven't seen one, we sold mainly 7,8,9, & 1030s

I have a CIH 8330 which I think is the same machine. It will make my DB 1210(65 PTO) know it is back there in good hay. Clipping straw stubble 30-35 hp is plenty.

Nice pics thanks for sharing.

I have run my Hesston 1120 with a 1950 John Deere A, 1946 Farmall M, and a 1951 Farmall h. I have even cut in the rain before with the Hesston 1120 and it is a fine sickle based mower conditioner.

I like the M on it best by far and it is my primary cutting tractor, the ole Farmall h does serve admirable back up duty though at its measly 27hp but usually have to drop a gear compared . The A runs it okay hp wise but the 2 cylinder PTO power pulses have a habit of working the PTO carrier bearing out of its bearing so I like 4 cylinders better...

Spent a lot of hours in my youth on Dad's well worn 430 diesel. Tractor sipped fuel and had lots of guts for its 34 hp rating. It was our frontline planting and cultivating tractor.
