Back pressure from injector to injection pump

I have a case 830 comfort king that i bought not running, the head gaskets were replaced and was told injector pump was bad, It squirts fuel
from the pump but the number 1 injector is letting high pressure air escape back to the pump? Bad Injector? or worse?

Sounds like nonsense. Somebody trying to sell you an injector pump? Was the pump removed or otherwise have its timing changed? With all the lines loosened at the injectors, engine cranking with throttle wide open, you should get a tiny squirt from each line in turn as the pump tries to fire that injector. Tighten the lines once you see that and the motor should fire up.

Most likely the injector is stuck open. Seen it happen once on a 1030, lots of air with fuel with the line nut loose at the pump. With the line completely out of the pump fitting could feel the compression air coming backwards out the line. Any injector should seal and work as a one way check valve. Quick check is to see if stuck open is to remove the line and crank the engine, or start it. There should be NO air coming out the injector line inlet..

Remove # 1 Injector and swap it with another say # 4 injector...problem most likely shall fallow the injector, not the pump.

I agree with Dieseltech. Get a new or rebuilt 1 and replace it or sent it to someone who rebuilds them.
