Finally progress on my SC

After an embarrassing long time, neighbors have my SC well under way for replacing cracked nose casting and a front end re-build. I/we have no paint booth, etc., to
totally tear down the tractor, sand blast and properly paint as some of you have done. So I'll do as I have had to do in the past, and, "section paint," as I work on
things. Instrument panel is looking good with John Saeli's new gauges. John has been a HUGE help with advice and parts. Thank you John. Thank you forum members.

Do it how ever you have to. It is a lot of work to take them clear down to metal, removing as many parts as you can and painting. Paint costs and mixing and recoat windows after priming and painting and safety equipment all add to a very arduous task. Part of the reason some now choose to leave them in their work clothes. We have one we call trusty rusty. Sat in a barn 8 years, fresh gas and a new set of plugs runs like a champ. But it is rusty. gobble

Good to see some progress on your SC. It will be a nice one when you get done. Thanks for saving another old Case tractor. Don

I agree with Mr. Turkey do whatever and however it works for you. I love an old tractor with the rust and dings but someone tried to paint my Case farmall red and couldn't live with the red. I build a shop in a corner of an old barn at the in-laws farm. They have plenty of shop space but I knew the project would tak me a year of free time so I didn't want to tie up any room in the shop. I am almost finished with my 1949 SC. I stripped the tractor down to metal with a 4" wire wheel and I sandblasted all the parts I could with a $49.99 craftsman siphon blaster. I never thought I would finish it. I primed with a good self etching primer as I went to protect all my hard work. I never painted before but I bought a cheap set of guns and went for it. I asked a million questions to friends who have painted and watched YouTube videos I think it turned out great for a first timer. This forum has been great wether asking direct questions or just reading others posts best of luck with your project keep us posted on your progress.

Gotta love it. Who's the supervisor? The one with his tongue hanging out? FWIW I discovered that Lowe's sells a Rustoleum Huskvarna orange "farm implement" spray paint that matches the Case flambeau orange pretty closely.
