930 case pto

can a case 930 tractor be switched to 1000 pto from 540? and how do I go about doing it? new to a case tractor guys. looking at a new Holland 411 discbine that has 1000 pto hook up and this is the only tractor I have big enough to handle it. thanks for any info guys.

1030s came with 1000 pto. I switched my 1030 to 540 in 1972. Have the 1000 parts here but no sale. Need to find the shaft and gears to switch your 930. Rear pto housing needs to come off to change. Need to drain all the trans oil to pull it off.

Think I would just look for some thing to cut hay with that could be run with 540. Changing a 930 from 540 pto to 1000 pto , is the kind of job you won't want do do every day . We changed our 1030 to 540 pto years ago. Far more jobs on my farm for a 540 pto . And I have two other tractors that with the removal of a snap ring , you can pull out the pto, and turn it around to go from 540-1000, and yet another with two pto shafts.
I think only the 1030 came with the 1000 and a 540 was a option . The 7,8, and 930 CK will all interchange pto parts, but you will have to find a 1030 pto for a donor.

I can sell you a kit to install a 2 speed PTO from a 70 series tractor on your 930. Then a snap ring with a pliers will change the speed in 15 seconds. Contact me if interested. Email is open.

You should do some research on the NH 411 discbine. While I have never had one , I seem to recall that the 411 model was a early offering , and farmers found they were pricey to repair. And If I am correct , and this is the model , if some thing goes haywire with one of the rotor gear boxes, all of the gear boxes have to come off. Newer models were easy to repair/maintain. Just some thing to look into.

I have a gear set that i changed out of my 1030 years ago that i would sell. Not hard to change out with 4 long all tread.

411 also came with a 540 pto. Look for one thus equipped. Otherwise, Three point mount models can flip 90deg gearbox if I remember the book, and drawbar models require a step up gearbox, new clevis with tractor extension, and a new shaft. There should be used parts available for a swap.
We run our 411 @ 540 with a 656 gas farmall, so they don't take the hp suggested, and you can still go 5-6 mph. On our land that can be too fast. I believe part of the hp rating is to ensure you have enough ballast and structure to handle the machine safely. We're about 15 hp shy of the minimum in the book, but it's a real tractor and not a compact weekend warrior machine so it is fine. Case 730 or 830 would be the same even unballasted. Some of those compact toys are advertised at 100 some hp but the rating is engine gross at abnormal rpm plus marketing math.

Good luck
