'53 SC: does hydraulic pump run all the time?

I should know this, but I don't. I need to move my SC to the neighbor's where we are going to do repairs and upgrades. I have a hydraulic leak at the pump, at the top of the two vertical shafts that attach to arms, linkage and finally hand levers for controlling implements, EHitch, etc. I have the O-ring/gasket set to fix it, but won't get into that until I move the tractor. Right now, fluid is low. If pump runs all the time, maybe we'd better trailer the tractor over there. If no harm will be done, I'll drive it over. About 3 miles.

Make sure there is oil in it. The pump runs when the engine runs.

Thanks. 'Kinda thought so, but it doesn't hurt to be sure. It has fluid in it, just not topped off.

You MIGHT get away with it. Compare what it costs to trailer it to a new pump.
