Case turbocharger question

I am getting interested in turbocharging basics and thinking about playing around with adding one on something. Just as a general question for example a 1370 or 2390 Case bone stock what kind of boost pressure does a motor like this run at wide open throttle? Will it be a lot different at 1/2 throttle or doesn't that change much?

For interesting turbo reading find a copy of Hugh McInnes book, TURBOCHARGERS. Has several sections on theory of operation, size matching, gas, diesel, and LP applications, ignition, intercooling, oiling, water injection, etc. That's what I read several times when I turbocharged an Olds 455 V-8 on propane. Far as diesel tractors go when boost gets around 15 psi or higher that's when intercoolers are used..

I understand they don't work the best in the powercell type engines in say a Case 930. I do know one will really wake up the direct injected engines. Years ago, one neighbor ran a White 2-135 and another had a turboed Case 970. Worked for both guys on occasion. The 970 Case would pull anything the White would. On the flip side, as far as cabs and ride, the White was a Cadillac. compared to the Case. Case fixed that in the 90 series though.....guy on here "111" I think has a boost gauge in his 1570.

Many years had one added to Ford 8600. Dealer said pyrometer not necessary. WRONG. Plowing with 5-16s. 5 hrs into job got loud knocking. Took out tubro seals sucked raw oil into engine melted #3 piston. Make certain to include pyrometer in the expense column.

evidently you haven't driven a 20/2290, it's like sitting on a brick, several owners that I know agree on this fact as I have a 2290 myself, an Oliver or a White were always a better driving tractor versus a Case, we have owned several models of both brands, as for turbos on older farm tractors they don't have much boost at low rpms

Got a 530 Case [industrial version of the 500 and has the case 6 cyl diesel ] and put a turbo from a cat tree delimer on it, Pulled like a scalded dog and made lotsa smoke while pulling, also turned up the inline bosch pump I put on it, Hoss
