June 10,1951 Dad took delivery of this brand new DC-4 Case. Picture was taken when the tractor was a week old chopping wilted hay silage. The chopper was about a 1947-48 model.

I love seeing pictures of old tractors working when they were in their prime. In the 50s, I knew every detail of most new tractors made so what details the picture does not show, my memory and immigration fills in the blanks. If the tractor is a 52, he is enjoying the live power and probably running is second gear with that size windrow. Post more pictures if you have them.

In the fifties, the best dad could afford was a C Case that served us well. The DC4 was my dream tractor in 1950 when I was 10 years old. The LA was awesome but the neighborhood did not use tractors that big.

A bit more info: The DC 4 was a new 'hold over from 1950.The dealer in Elgin got in a big bunch of DC s and SC s .Mite of been a dozen or more. It took him a while to get them all sold. This mite of been one of the last ones. We lived between Elgin and Dundee.
First gear was used as the pickup was not geared for any faster travel. That pickup was not one of Cases better ideas. That model ' C " chopper , it self was a good machine. Thanks for the intrest in the pic. clint

Brokengun, Yes , I do remember it well what the DC replaced, a CC. Dads first new tractor was a pre 1935 CC with the CC-4 wide front as well as the tricycle frt. Both the CC and DC were bought from Barron Bros, Case dealers in Elgin, Ill. I am old enuff to remember driving the CC some. Also remember the CC being 'cut down' and put on Firestone tires. If I can find them , I will post pic of the CC. Dad sold the CC private. Got more $$ out of it that way. clint

I love old family pictures, they really mean something. Can see how proud he is of his tractor and equipment! Thanks for posting

During the Case dealer lawsuit Oliver Barron stated that his brother was still alive in 1945. He must have died sometime in the late 40's-early 50's. Any idea when Barron Bros quit? Thanks, Don
