I am just following up again on my previous followup to this post about splitting my 311B. Thank you again to all those who helped me out.

Well as stated in the post everything seemed to work flawlessly when I put it all together. Shifted fine when I drove it back into the garage and it sat for 2 weeks. Today I try to get it into gear to do some brush hogging and it will not declutch, nothing but grinding with the foot pedal! The hand clutch works as it should. I tried readjusting the the pedal linkage both directions and nothing seemed to work.

What the heck could have gone wrong when it was working so well with all new components?

New clutch disks will stick to the pressure plate, and flywheel when they sit with pressure on them, especially under humid conditions. Use the hand clutch to get it out on the road in high gear and give it a good pull with the clutch disengaged. It should come loose if it has been just a few weeks. If 2 years you would be in for a split again. Once the clutch is used and gets a little glaze to it it will be good for life.

Thanks guys,

I will give this a try tonight! I am not sure what I would do without all the good advise!

Once again you all were correct!

I actually was able to free it up while coming down my driveway while holding the clutch pedal in while in 3rd gear while pressing the brakes.

IT was still a bit sticky so I did a little brush hogging. I intentionally let it slip a bit while getting the brush hog up to speed to try and break it in a bit. Things are getting better.

Thanks again for the help!
