Going to tear down the 1030 tonight, I'm thinking it blew a head gasket, ran good but it started missing really bad out in the field. It sat for a couple days I was goona start it again thinking maybe a valve hung up,( it was a stuck motor when I got it). Anyways before I was going to start it there is antifreeze in the water. What do you all think it is before I tear it down.

Could be several different things, but seeing as how we are guessing . My guess is a sleeve has let go , and coolant was leaking into the cylinder while it was running making it run rough. As I said , only a guess. Had this happen with my 930 , ran a little rough , then started to smoke , and all of the sudden the engine pressurized the cooling system , and blew coolant out the rad cap. Very dramatic to see. They can usually be fixed reasonably. I think one of mine is not cracked and could be used. The other would need to be planed for sure and maybe fixed too. Finding one not cracked will be hard. Of the 7 total that I had, 2 were total junk and 3 were cracked that I had repaired and are on my tractor. And I have the 2 left that haven't been tested.
One of mine might be usable, but the other one I won't even put any money trying, goona see if I can just find another 1030, this one of mine just doesn't catch my fantasy. See if I can find a head or two closer here to michigan for a decent price, if not I'm goona let it go.
