SC, what is it, feature

I have this stamped metal, "holder,' on the front of my '53 SC. Looks to have been factory stamped out and added by previous owner? I'm guessing they might have had an oil can that slipped the tip under and into the top hole and then slid onto the bottom. Anyone ever seen this? I'm just curious. Will keep it if I can figure what to put in it. Also, ... just ahead of the quarter-inch grill mounting bolt is an empty hole. It has an inside captured nut with threads. What went there? About the right place for a winter curtain, or.....?

Don't know about the holder, but the threaded holes (4) were for a shaped screen that went inside the grill. Helped keep the radiator clean.

My guess would be for a pump oil can. The spout fits in the hole on the top and the base snaps into the lower tab/
