In order to pull the powershift clutch pack on Case 970 do you have to pull the cab like they say in the book or can you get the shift cover out with out doing it and what should I watch out for. The clutches are slipping and burnt that is why we are taking it out. Thank you

The power shift will come out just fine WITHOUT removing the cab. Remove the right front platform mounting bracket, and filter canisters. Remove ps control valve and all linkage. Lift up tranny cover, rotate shift fingers and pull it out from under platform on the RH side of tranny. You will have to work in the cab with your head below your arz though.

If your 970is a later unit and has the hollow P Shift input shaft you don't even have to remove the trans cover to service it. Early single shaft tractor would require
the cover removal. Rod.

If you have a cooperative Case dealer who was Case before the IH thing or even a CaseIH dealer with parts manuals if you get the transmission serial number by RH brake on the case, the serial number of the tranny will tell which procedure if followed, they can look it up.
