Power/Shift input shaft for 1896

This is a last ditch effort to locate a good power/shift input shaft #A168580 for a early model 1896 Case tractor. CNH no longer makes them. If I can't locate one I have a plan B that I could resort too. If anyone else has had this dilemma and found a solution please share. Dave

We had the same problem a couple years ago. Found a shaft for a later tractor and took it to a machine shop which was able to machine some off the shaft making it the same as the earlier shaft. Rod.

Rod, That's a good idea. I presume you removed stock from the inner part of the shaft so as to not compromise the overall length of the shaft? Late model shafts are also hard to come by. I called the number Loren gave me and they will get back to me. I had already called Elmer's and every other boneyard in the mid-west. Thanks for the ideas and glues. Dave
