Case 420B No clutch pressure

New filter. Lines clear. No pressure on the clutch hydro line/valve from the fitting going out. Cannot shift. In torque or direct drive, I have little power moving forward or backwards. Do I have a weak clutch pump that would cause all this? Is the clutch valve/seals bad? Do I have bigger problems? Help

Did this problem appear before you changed the filter, or pop up afterwards? We assume the Converter reservoir is full of the proper oil?

I bought a part from John at Saeli. The problem was before I changed the filter. Reservoir has oil. Someone said to check flow control spool/valve that is mounted next to the control valve and pedal hooks (may stick open). Would this cause all these problems? I may call you some time next week.

(quoted from post at 08:52:02 05/27/17) yes it can cause this condition, may or may not be your issue but I have seen it more than once

The check flow control spool valve is in the closed position. I could push it open against the spring with no issues. So it does not seen stuck. I will put back in the tractor next week. Any other thoughts?

if you took the small valve off the top in behind the main body and spool assembly it will not cause no system pressure, that is the torque converter pressure set at appx 25-40 lbs and is downstream from the main pressure regulator and can be stuck open with no effect on main clutch pressure. You need to systematically check the system first finding out if you have a supply coming out of the top and going to the cooler/filter.

you should have a factory manual to diagnose/repair, there are a couple of us old timers that cut our teeth on those systems and few even know oil flows and routing and how the clutch pressures are applied and what happens when the clutch pressure is released.

I have a parts manual and a generic 400-700b-800B factory manual. When you say "supply coming out of the top" I assume you mean the 90 degree outlet going to the filter/line out of the control valve, which I had no pressure. I may turn over the engine to see if I get oil out of the small valve inlets before I put the small valve back on. Or can I remove the converter drive control valve and see if I get oil from the pump with a slight engine turnover, since it is under low pressure?

You may already know this but I'll share anyway. I didn't get any fluid out of the top port until I turned over the engine for about 20-30 seconds. I believe the torque converter drains after it is shutdown and needs to refill.

So I started the engine without the small regulator valve on. Oil came out immediately in torque drive and direct drive. To me this says the pump is fine. I then put back on the small regulator valve and in torque drive I got oil coming out of the control torque converter valve when in torque drive. Not in direct. I did not get oil pressure in the regulator valve tube back to the cover. Battery went dead before I could check what happens when I press in the clutch. Do I remove the larger Torque converter drive control valve and rebuild? What else could it be? Any thoughts?
