rear main seal

Well isn't that special. You have to remove the oil pan to be able to replace the rear main seal.

Any sage advice on how to get the seal out of the carrier (VTA-694) without destroying it?

If you have a rear main seal leaking you need to pull the pan to check your bearing clearance anyway. I would not replace a rear main without checking the bearings.

Actually, I have the tractor in half right now replacing the clutch pack. The clutch wasn't destroyed by oil it was destroyed by mice. I thought it would be prudent to change the rear main seal while I had it split. Also, the VT-3250 gasket is broken and working it's way out.

The previous owner said the engine was rebuilt. The view under the valve cover, I would believe him. No knocks or smoke. The cover for the bottom of the flywheel was missing and the mice ------ and crapped all over it.

If not for the backhoe and loader I'd just slap it back together but with those on there, it's alot of work that I dont want to do again real soon.
