My Dad landed on Utah, and if you don't know what or where that is, then you need to figure that out. He went across France, and then went through the "The Battle of the Bulge". And yes in Bastogne. War end he was 400 mi from "The Berghof"
He came home with nothing, and you know what, built a dealership, farmed 3000 acres plus! And as he would say built a family that made him so proud. He passed away quietly at home. Never ask for a free ride. But he was there for you and me. And never ask for anything. He was,,, The greatest generation. Snowflakes, you will never understand this Man. Don't burn the flag....

Was your Dad there, then say it.....

Very good friend/customer Glen Sandburg, quiet gentle but strong man served in Battle of the Bulge. Never was able emotionally talk of his service, but was told his hair turned snow white overnight.

Yes, I have known that type of man, never ask for nothing, just lived a good honest life and kept it all in what they had to do and what they saw. Loved their country. Honestly, it makes me proud to have known them.

Thanks for the post.

Dan,

My next door neighbor Leo Neimeyer was a gunner on a tank destroyer, a rolling deathtrap. The kindest, gentlest man I ever knew, would help you anyway he possibly could. When asked of his service in the Battle of the Bulge, he simply said, "I can't remember." He is gone 4 years now, but forever remains in my heart, as your Dad does with you. Don

Don, that is very special, these men went through hell. Don, I always enjoy reading your replies. Thanks again my friend.

My hat of to your Dad's and your family sacrifices, so many go on in life and nothing more is said. Your Dad like mine and many others that saw a lot of action. And his education probably was cut short as he had to help at home.

Thanks for sharing this, it means a lot to talk about it.

Ande,
Your story is amazing to read. You must be very proud of your dad. I can't even imagine what he did for our great country. Sounds like he worked very hard and built a wonderful family, farm and business. These people are my heroes. Thank you for the wonderful writing. Take care and God bless your family.

Kurt,
Thank you for your kind words, my Dad like many others just did what they were ordered to do. He was with Patton 3rd army for a while, and I ask him, did you ever see Patton. His words back to me,, "sure I did, many times"

We just cant forget our Service people. Ever.
