Why the 12v Socket?

Just a curious question. Why did Case put a 12v ("cigarette lighter") socket on the tractor? I have one on the dash and one near the rear remote hydraulic connection points.

Was this for trailer/implement lighting or something?

In my experience Case used two electric sockets. On the 1966 830 was a cigarette lighter. This was a small extra as my driver smoked and it was handy for him. It was on the dash. The other was on both the 830 and 1961 530 was a power plug for auxilary lights etc and was placed on a bracket around the toolbox area, facing rear. Their brochures showed, for example, red tail lights mounted in a wedge bracket and plugged into said power socket

That would make sense. I don't have any ID tags or anything other than a date of mfg on the side of the tranny housing (which is 61). I just assume my 530 is a 1961 because of it; possibly '62.

Do you know if that rear socket was only available that year?

According to the wiring diagram for my '59 611B, it had both of those 12V outlets. The rear one is long gone of course. The manual purports to cover 350, 500B, and 600B models.
