just purchased 196? 530 w/42 loader & 31 backhoe. Naturally no SN# for tractor, but found #s for loader & backhoe. Was this a common 530 arrangement? Where would one direct me to purchase manual(s) for this wheel tractor.

The backhoe is normal but the loader has the self leveling linkage like a W-3 has, I am wondering if yours is a W-3 as the 530 never had a mechanical leveling loader that I know of or can find but the W-3 did. The 530CK was made 1962-1966, any Case CE (construction) dealer can order you the books you need, but we better make sure what you, I also can pull up the model 42 loader but it seems it was made until 1960, either way the W-3 and a 530 are almost the same tractor so parts will not be a issue and you have the loader and backhoe tags so they are no question, also just a heads up the teeth on the backhoe bucket are on upside down

Thanks Case Nutty for your thoughts, I'm quite impressed at your eye sight on the bucket teeth. I will get that corrected. To me, a newbie to backhoe ownership, it looked ok, LOL. I read somewhere, Case often used the year before engine in their new tractors. Would you think this could be the case with this tractor with the model 42 loader(?). That would put it possible 1960. Can't find the engine S/N, but still looking. Not in usual place. Going to degrease the engine Saturday. Been under the weather sense my original posting, but getting ready to put her through the paces this week end. Have no real plans for my new girl, but always wanted a backhoe. Live on a small, real small farm, and sure I can find uses. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions to you and the group. Thank you replying and the group for allowing me to enter.

I am going to try to attach a couple of pictures of my 1962 Case 530 (serial # 8197411). I am trying to figure out what model 530 I have, as there is only one hydraulic
cylinder for steering, & a steering shaft that goes from steering wheel to front of tractor.

Also what model of bucket do I have. It sure looks like the 42 loader & 31 backhoe. Any help here?

Case Nutty, in comparing Oldgoat's Case picture with mine, above, it looks like they have the same loader. I don't see a leveler cylinder on his, so it must be a Model 42 like I have on mine. My Case 530 is not a CK, but an AG tractor with the single steering cylinder. I've been told there were 4 different steering systems on those years of Case, & I'm still trying to find out what model steering I have.

It's good to see another 530 like mine out there. I have really enjoyed working on it, just a hobby/toy. I have found most of my parts for the tractor is out of a parts catalog for 430-530 AG & Utility Tractors. Part numbers have changed, but can be x-ref into new numbers. I have the same 1 cylinder on my 530. got parts for it to rebuild. The company where they came from were proud of them, OUCH!!! but the worked. I can be reached through here as well as nclookout at yahoo. another great contact for our tractors, I have found, is Dale at Tractorstuff. He is great and I have sent him pictures of what I was working on, and he takes care of the parts. His number is 800-428-8183 and web is www.e-backhoeparts.com.
thanks
