Jon, my 930 oil pressure

Jon, our old head mechanic Terry, stopped by after a service call up to the farm on one of their Maxxums.
We went out and started my 931. Hasn't been started since a warm day in Feb. It started with no manifold heater or other assistance, and only took maybe a dozen revs, to run smooth on all six. It has a Denzo starter so it spins fast on one 12V G31 battery.
Oil pressure at idle is 60#, (cold oil), and as you see at max RPM 2300+ it shows better than 70# after a bit of warm up.

So at 40 lbs mine was a little low then. Guess I'll be checking the oil pump over close too.

All my 6 cylinder 70 series tractors have the factory set reliefs set at 40-45#

The 4 cylinder tractors go much higher, I have seen 70-80 when cold at idle.

Can speak for the 30 series engines.

Loren: I have never seen that kind of pressure on a Racine engine, 4 cyl or 6 cyl.. The 188 Diesels ran that pressure. According to the Service Manual. it is not even normal, could someone have shimmed the relief valve?

Hey guys I don t like to see oil pressure to high. Oil temp will be higher. My 2 cents worth. Richard
