930 charging system question.

So my 930 diesel wasn't charging. Put new bearings and brushes in the generator and it didn't charge. Took the generator to a shop to have it tested and the regulator was bad so it was replaced. Put it back on the tractor and it still won't charge. I did figure out that the light on the dash was also burned out. I have been testing for charging with a clamp on amp meter and not by the light on the dash. Does the light on the dash have to work for it to charge? All wiring has been verified to be intact and correct. My other thought is that maybe it is not spinning fast enough to make it charge. I know that there is a smaller aftermarket pulley available.

Thanks,

Eli

"Does the light on the dash have to work for it to charge?"

Might be some exceptions, but with generator no, with alternator yes.

Chuck, they polarized it at the shop and I did it again when I put it back on the tractor. I watched them test it and it worked at the shop. Guess it's some more digging. Thanks for the ideas.

Did yo measure the voltage at the Bat terminal of the regulator with the engine shut off and then running? There may be a wiring problem that has opened the circuit from the regulator tot he battery post on the starter.
