case 630 double action to single action hydraulics

I have a 630 case with stacked control valves and I want to change it from double action to single action hydraulics. The top valve runs to the back remote and the bottom valve runs to the eagle hitch. I know there is a plug that needs to be taken out of the oil manifold on the control valve but I'm not sure if its the top or bottom that needs messed with. Can anybody give any insight?

On my 630 I plumbed a tee into the torque tube where the filler plug goes and ran a 1 line from one of the remotes to it.This gives a place for the oil to return and also
gives you single acting action. This has been done to a few of my tractors. Nick

that works too but all you have to do is just move the lever enough to drop it and there is no back pressure on the unused line, been doing it this way for close to 50 years with never a single issue

The third port in the interlock block mounted on the side of the control valve determines whether the system will be double acting or single acting.

The eagle hitch piston is SA so the interlock on the lower control valve has the 3rd port plug removed to provide a path for the pump pressure when the control valve is in the return stroke.

Normal factory setup is DA for the upper control valve/interlock with two hoses. To make it SA remove the interlock block and take the plug out of the 3rd port. Pic 1 interlock block, pic2 matching face of upper control valve.

As can be seen on the gasket, this interlock block was installed upside down (end for end). For DA system that only causes a minor supply/return restriction but in a SA system would block the 3rd port resulting in the pump being dead headed in relief on the return stroke.
