Case 1490 High Platform 2 wheel drive 12 speed

Hello, I just joined the forums and thought I would drop a line to request any and all help available. I have a 1980's series Case 1490. I can't seem to find any definitive information on serial numbers for this tractor that would indicate a specific date. I am guessing early 80's. I have the manuals for it. I just purchased it and it runs real well. It has a loader on it and it works as it should. This tractor has the front mount single hydraulic pump. The issue that I am having is that my 3 point is completely dead. It does nothing at all (looks good though). I have run through all of the manual's troubleshooting tips. I am at the point now where I am going to bleed the air out of the system and check system pressure. Before I do that, I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions that may save me some time.
The pump obviously is working and the filter is obviously not clogged, as the loader works just fine (hooked to an aux. line). The hydraulic fluid is filled to capacity and it looks good (clear).

There is a combining valve located on the rt. rear of your 1490 at the bottom of the remote valve stack. It is a lever that pulls in and out that sends all the oil to remotes/loader to make it faster. This should make your hitch work.

Single pump tractors don't have a combining valve.

Most 14s had doubles, a double is basically 2 singles stacked end to end. Do you have 2 small and one big line going to the hydraulic pump, or one and one? Easiest to see where they run beside the oil pan.

Thank you, It does have a combining valve, so it must have the inline pumps. I couldn't see the second pump. I did move the combining valve prior. It effectively shuts down the front loader when operating, but does nothing for the 3 point hitch. I am assuming that it works properly as it stops the flow to the aux. remotes.

Wisdom at it's finest. Thank you, I looked and you are correct. I have a large line running down the left side of the tractor and 2 small lines running down the right side of the tractor. It does have a combining valve on the rear axle (right side). The lever faces rearward and pivots in/out as you move the lever left or right. To the left pushes the valve in and to the right pulls the valve out. It will effectively stop flow to the aux. valves and my loader will cease to operate when engaged.

It shouldn't stop the loader, but make it half as fast as you are directing the flow from one pump to the 3 point, while the other still goes to the remotes.

When combined, they both go to the remotes.

RGMartin - Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your help. I just went back out and confirmed that it does stop the flow to the front loader. In fact when I open the valve the loader will immediately stop and start drifting back down. When I close the valve, the loader immediately starts working again. As long as the valve is closed, the loader will stay up for days. If I open the valve, the loader with slowly drop. Draft is on position and dump valve is closed.

(quoted from post at 21:30:35 05/07/17) Most likely a blown O-ring in the combining valve.

Thank you, that is what I am hoping for. I am tearing into it today. I will keep you posted.

Change every o ring one you come across as you take it apart. Will save lots of drips and leaks down the road.

Probably less than $10 worth of parts from a good NAPA.
