case 830 widefront

I recently got a case wide front for my 62 830 and took off the worn out junky swartz... This front end has the tie rods behind the axle instead of in the front. I have been told they were an option like that but have never saw another one...are they rare? or for another model? it works really nice, just they only one i have ever seen... Also, i was told to run a certain oil in the caseomatic similar to ATF but not the same, can someone tell me? I have also been told that you can run straight diesel fuel in them if you dont work them to hard..anyone try this? I know hytrans is a little thick but thats what ive been running in it... thanks for any info in advance!

My early Racine 400 (1955) has the wide front with the tie rods in the rear, my later one (l956) has them in the front. Yours is probably an early one. I believe they are all the same up to the Comfort Kings, where the geometry was changed to allow sharper or shorter turning radius

Go back to page 3, about 1/2 way down to "830 gets a new engine". Good pictures there of a 62 or 63 830 that shows front end set up. Is this what you have? Our 63 830 had a non adjustable front axle but I seem to remember the tie rods in the back, BUT its been over 40 years since I have seen that tractor.

This is a YouTube link to a 64 830 with non adjustable front. My memory was right. Tie rods are behind the axle.

The whole point of the Schwartz wide front was a shorter turning radius for the tractor at less money that a factory wide front! They didn't have to pay union scale at Glencoe Minnesota, and other benefits.
