7-870 Gas Tanks

The previous post by Gerald brought to mind a question I have been meaning to ask. Does anyone know if the plastic gas tanks on 7-870's are compatible with ethanol. I has
seen swelling on some earlier plastics when they come into long term contact with ethanol. I have resisted the temptation to put in the 870's gas tank until I know for
certain there are no problems with doing that. Rod.
 
Probably not the same but have been using ethanol in the Case lawn tractors longer than I care to remember and no ill effects. Course I don't know if the plastics are the same. Guess I never worried about it as my son has a 870 gas that gets 10% all the time...no problem. All the gas cans here are plastic also.
 
Steve it must be alright if your son has used it for a number of years in his 870. I have used it for years in the VAC with no problems but there is no plastic in that fuel system. Rod.
