Case 830 - no power steering - leaking at pedestal

I believe my Case 830 is leaking fluid where the pedestal comes out of the tractor. The pedestal is all wet with oil. Loses all of its fluid fairly quick. I assume there is a seal on the shaft coming out of the casting that is bad. How big of a project it is to replace the seal? Thank.

Remove radiater. If you have a narrow front you will have to support tractor to remove narrow front pedastal. Remove power steering hoses. Remove rollpin in steering ujoint and remove joint.Remove bolts from under steering motor. Lift motor out. Now the fun begins The seal you are after is the last thing out.You will really need a book to help with disasembly and reassembly. There are a lot of orings and seals in the motor I am not sure if they are all available.

It's a bit unusual to have a seal fail. There may be a mechanical problem allowing shaft movement that the seal can't compensate for. Look close when you get it tore down.

Stan is correct, big job, and a manual is a must. A few pieces are no longer available from CASE, however we are able to put together a complete re-build kit, using mostly Genuine CASE parts, and some we source aftermarket. We also furnish the pages from the Service Manual to do the job.

I didn't know you have a rebuild kit for the steering, John. That's a big plus that you offer a service kit plus the pages from a service manual to do the job.

Just doing what we can to keep the old CASE iron going. CASE doesn't seem interested anymore, dropping parts like flys.
