Hard starting sc

Tractor ran good last fall. Can't seem to get it started this spring. Has a fairbanks mag, I'm not sure how to get into the mag to check the points. Could someone tell me how to do it. Thanks

When you crank it by hand, can you hear the mag "click" every other time the crank makes a rotation? The magneto has an impulse spring, that under slow turning winds up with crank motion and then releases around the perfect firing time, spinning the mag quickly, to allow it create the high voltage needed at the plug. The impulse springs fail, more often than the primary or low voltage side of the mag. My first step would be that.......

Ethanol? I had the same problem with my 1930 L, and it was the ethanol in the fuel. It congealed and left a lacquered up gunk throughout the fuel system. Had to do a lot of cleaning out of screens, etc. Then, began using the marine version of fuel system "preservers". Several of the old standards have been reformulated to deal with increased amounts of ethanol in the gasoline.

Good luck.
