Another DB 880 Question

Our 880 has a lot of play in the steering, which isn't a problem in the field, but it's a little dangerous on the road.
I got rid of a lot of it by removing shims from the steering box, but there's also play in the joint where the tie rod connects to the steering cylinder. I tried popping it off with a pickle fork, but it didn't want to come - am I missing something?
Thanks
Pete

Supposed to be play there. That is the steering valve itself. You might be able to disassemble the cylinder and find someplace to shim, but be advised parts are tough to come by for these cylinders.

Thanks - I had a feeling that cylinder might not be something I wanted to get into. Taking out the shims took up a lot of the play, so I'll get it started up and see - it may be good enough.
Thanks for the oil info too - that filter was long overdue for replacement - it was actually collapsed
