1977 Case 680ck series E low charge pump pressure

Hello, I have a 1977 case 680E. I have been having troubles with getting the transmission to work. It all started with the transmission stopping one day. I shut it down for a few mins and could fire it up and all was good.this would occur several times while I was running it. Then the other day was working with it it completely stopped and would not turn again. I got a set of pressure gauges and
checked the main line pressure and I had
130psi at startup but quickly went down to
zero. At that time when I had 130 PSI the
wheels started spinning as it would have if
it was working perfectly. I removed my
pressure gauge put the pipe plugs back in
thinking I'd solve the issue and when I
tested it it didn't work. Now when I started
up I'll get about 30 PSI for about 10
seconds then it goes back to zero. I
disassembled the control valve and inspected
all the springs and valves and wasn't able
to find any issues there. I have a service
manual and I've been referring back and
forth and I seem to think that it may be the
converter pump. Has anyone ever had any
issues similar to what I've described or any
thoughts on what might be the problem before
I drop this transmission.

I have worked on a few of those, There is a suction screen in the bottom under a plug that sticks front that should be checked. Other than that you may have to drop it and look at the charge puimp.

This is a forum that caters to the older Case Ag tractors and very few CE problems end up here which explains the lack of response from our members.

I would suggest the Heavy Equipment Forum. It is totally dedicated to problems like yours and has many knowledegable members from all over the world.
