Steps for my 411 Racine

I built a step for my 411 yesterday. After a
conversation with Pastor John, we discussed the
minimum clearance one should have for a step to
an open station tractor any thoughts? Inquiring
minds want to know. Right now I have 13 "clearance on the bottom step.

Chuck, I have attached a picture of the steps on my fathers Case 730. I have a similar setup on my VAC. However, I dont think I would ever add a step to my 300. Id be afraid that would get snagged on something.

I made a step on my 311b to later move to my 312. It is still on the 311. I kept the bottom even or higher than the bottom of the transmission housing. I used a piece of flat iron and a bottom step from a comfort king.

Looks good Chuck! My 400 had a creatively adjusted 30 series step on it. It had to go to make room for a second tool box. I would recommend adding some kind of anti slip material on them. Wouldn't want you to slip!

I don't see too much of a problem there as you won't be getting into deep mud all that often. But I think the steps are too close together if anything. If I had done it I likely would have moved the top step up closer to the bolts, then capped both ends. Then cap the ends of the other step. Then cut 2 pieces of tire side wall the width of the step and as long as you want the step down and bolt them to the sides of the steps. That way you get it low and if you hit something it will flex out of the way. A good heavy tire side wall like from a tractor rear tire will hold you on one step.

I have big boots and poor eyesight so I made BIG steps on both sides to get on/off my 831C. I can't get on from the rear anymore with the two post canopy mtd. Bottom step is 19" off the ground. I have thought about lower step/stirrup supported with a couple short pieces of 1/2" steel cable, but so far I can still lift my leg high enough to make the first step.

I appreciate the input fellows. For SAFTEY sake, I am going to remove the bottom step The top step measures 19" off the ground, which should give me sufficient clearance. Our local hardware store sells the stick on abrasive tape which should give me plenty of grip as I step on and off. Thanks for the call yesterday Jon. It came at a good time. I will cap the end of the step Jon.

Chuck, here is my "411", we put a cornhusker hitch on for my Dad as he had it up at his home on the lake, but he put this step on, and it works good, although I did bend it some in my duties at the farm
