6 Volt Electronic Ignition Wiring for 48' VAC.

Could someone provide me a wiring diagram of this system, mine came with one, am wondering how it's supposed to be wired ? Wire from
ignition switch is going to one wire from distributor cap, other goes to + terminal on coil, and a wire from the - terminal on coil is going to the
frame. Thanks, Mike

Mike, Is it the Pertronix unit, if so the red wire goes to the + side of the coil and the black goes to the - terminal on the coil and the 6 volt power wire goes on the coil with the red wire.

You did not say if it was a negative ground system which is the way these directions are for and I hope you ordered the kit accordingly as the kits are made in all variations both 6 and 12V.

Last couple I have used I ordered the Pertronix 2 units and they are less susceptable to failure by those who do not take time to install the proper coils which can cause module overheat and failure.

Hi Mel, My VAC is positive ground, the electronic ignition was already installed, and has a solid black wire, and a black wire / white stripe. Wire from ignition switch is hooked to the solid black wire from distributor, and the black / white stripe is hooked to positive terminal on coil, with a orange wire on negative terminal of coil going to tractor frame. I have spark on all plugs, but am concerned about negative wire from coil going to ground. May need to do some rewiring, as my manual shows no wire from coil to ground. Thanks for the help !

Mike

Mike, I put one in 2 of my VAC's on 6V, worst mistake ever! Starters draw too much to make it remotely reliable.

I'm not sure if wiring is correct, let alone the coil being correct.
Do they sell a positive ground coil ?? Never heard of one.

Coils are polarity neutral, it just depends which way you hook it up if it's positive or negative ground Mike.

Mike, the black goes to the ign sw wire, black with stripe to coil minus, coil positive to tractor ground or pos. batt terminal.

If the battery is under size as far as amp hours or the unit has ratty cables you may run into problems of voltage drop and hard starting but the same can be said for standard systems, I have friends on forum who had starting problems with 12v Pertronix units till they updated the battery and cables. Also, starters with bad bushing s will cause a bad voltage drop so should be brought into good condition as well.
