So I picked up this VAC last year for $200. I put one rear tire on it so I could roll it around. Distributor was bad so replaced it with one one of you sent me.. Put in new points yesterday and tried to fire it up. Ran real well for about 3 minutes or so then started to miss a lot and blow black smoke. I have had this carb apart a few times but thinking that the bottom half of an 8N carb is not going to work as it should with the top half of the VAC carb. No matter what I do it seems to run way to rich. I am about ready to pull the carb off the good running VAC and put it on this one just to see if it is the carb or maybe something else. If it runs well that way I guess I'll have to see if I can clean up the bottom half of the VAC carb and make it work since the 8N carb seems to have jets that are to big for the VAC
