Well, that's disappointing.

I finally got to try out the DB990 loader I rebuilt. I bought the loader with a parts tractor and had to rebuild the last 3 feet of the loader arms and the bucket. I had to guess on the bucket depth but followed the lines of the original where I could. Tractor has a new pump, fresh oil and filter and it's not got the lift I was hoping for at all. Maybe I was expecting too much, but it sure seems under powered by a lot. I would have thought I could lift a bucket full of bedding/manure pack.

I'll keep tinkering.

Need to put a gauge in a line and see what the pressure is reading. Line to a cylinder should work when the cylinder is
at full extention it should read relief pressure.

How big is your bucket? The factory buckets were fairly tiny. With the extremely long arms and they don't have much breakout force by modern standards. Still beats a pitchfork by a mile.

I have a pretty good original LS12 here somewhere if you need measurements.

Rich, 6 foot wide, about 32" high and deep. Everything I've seen shows this to be a DB bucket. I'll try to get a pic. I copied the arm length exactly.

What model loader is it? If one of the brown DB loaders, I never saw a bucket that big. The later Great bend built loaders the buckets got bigger, as did the cylinder bores, but the arms got shorter.

This reminds me of the days when we had cows and a tromp shed. By spring the manure/straw was several feet high. It was a challenge for the Ferguson and Freeman loader to break out with a bucket full. Lately I had to think, with forklift tines on the 3 point hitch it would have helped to use that to loosen that hard pack up.

I just had Easter dinner at my parents where the loader is. Forgot to bring a tape measure, but the bucket is only 4" wider than the loader frame on each side. This one has been in the family off and on for 40+ years, bucket is certainly original.

Rich, it's definitely a DB loader, has the brass colored tag on the frame and and an old Case/DB guy ID'd the bucket design as DB.

A snow bucket?

Could be. I have had 2 of the LS12s with original general purpose/manure buckets and both were narrow.

Somewhere is the USPS didn't lose it, I have an original DB loader manual. Will see if there is any bucket info.
