The original subject was "International 454 has no PTO pressure".
Not sure if you ever resolved your PTO issue... I did, so below"s the result.
Unlike some, my PTO was the ONLY hydraulic system not working. PS, brakes, 3 pt. lift...all operated just fine, so it allowed me to focus only on the valves/sections that
control PTO operation. (ie. Don"t replace the $850 hydraulic pump just yet) See attached diagram showing the check valve assembly on the PS return line (uses plastic poppet),
and the PTO pressure regulator valve assembly (uses metal poppet with a pin-hole), which was full of trash/crud from the old fluid prior to changing. I used a pencil-magnet to
carefully remove the pieces in the bore, clean/polish thoroughly, and re-inserted. Mine also had a 2nd shim washer at the top of the spring, which allows for pressure
adjustment.
The PTO did NOT work after all of this check/work, so I decided to attach and use my grater blade/box blade over my gravel driveway, as to at least ensure that the entire
hydraulic system had been exercised thoroughly, all fluid/valves flushed-out of any remaining trash, air, etc,etc. Well, that must have done it, because I engaged the PTO lever
after I finished and the shaft started spinning!! I rushed down and attached the Woods finishing mower, and I"m cutting grass again !! It"s never ran better !!!
Best of luck to those chasing PTO problems.. be patient, keep your tractor clean/maintained (and out of the weather when not in use), will do it wonders.
