More dealers for Don

I have a couple more dealers for you from when I was a kid. Mayslick Farm Supply in Mayslick, Kentucky, in the 60's and 70's. Owned by Buddy Cropper. We bought a new 770 in 1972 from Buddy, along with various New Holland equipment through the years. His wife Rosie ran the parts department, great parts person. Dealership was sold to a man with last name of Wilson, around the late 70's and closed in the 80's when times got tough.

Elgin Church Farm Equipment in Bethel, Kentucky was another. Mr. Church moved a huge amount of machinery in central Kentucky in the 50's through the 70's. "Church" as everybody called him was quite a guy, extremely well respected in the area. One of those larger than life types that everybody remembers. Could tell a story like no one I've met before or since. Dad always said "Church never lets the facts get in the way of a good story". I remember seeing a new Spirit of 76 1570 at his place. Quite a treat for a youngster like me at the time.

Of course all these people have passed on now, including Dad. What I would give to be able to go back in time and live those years again.

Good memories.

Buzz saw,

Thank you again for listing these dealers, along with a backstory for each of them. Our local AC/NH dealer was a special person as well. He was full of stories and mischief and loved baseball and was equal parts excellent mechanic and salesman. A rare combination. Swore like a sailor, but never around women or family. Loved every minute with him arguing the finer points of Case vs. AC. Still debate with his sons. Great memories indeed. Thanks again, Don

Used to take equipment to Kacklers consignment auction in maylick
they would have on friday nights. Dad said his equipment would
sell better in the dark. We're was this dealership located?

Kachlers yard was on US 68 on the edge of town, Bill, (not Buddy as I put in my first post) Cropper was in the town proper, off 68 in town. The original place was an old garage on the corner in the center of town. Been to long to remember the street names. The new building was just down the street from the old place. If you knew where to look it may have been possible to see it from 68.

I went to Kachlers a few times on Friday nights, was contending bidder on a pretty nice 430 one time. Bill Kachler held dad's auction when he sold the dairy cows in the mid 90's.

Are you from that area?
