I am completely rebuilding a Case SC. I am about to reassemble the transmission and wondered if people use any sealant on the shims. I did a John Deere B several years ago and I put a small amount of non hardening sealant on each shim before assembly. I didn't have any leaks, but am wondering if that is necessary.

I have an early production SC, without the o-ring seals on the bearing carriers. I used the HIGH-TACK red red sealant on both sides of each shim after the correct pack was determined. Spray can makes it easy to apply a thin coat.
