Hi Guys

I finally replaced the rockshaft seals on my 530(541L) tractor. I neglected to take photos of the position of the arms when I took it apart. I am thinking that the rockshaft needs to be all the way down but what position should the arms be in? Right now I have them 1/4 turned down from being level on top but it does not seem correct. Should the flat part of the arm be horizontal on top? I don't see anything in the manual about this.

Thanks
Pat

PS..John S the seal kit with the plastic seal and oring worked fine. I had to heat up the plastic seal with a blow dryer and muscle it in place. I then let the piston set in boiling water with my ring compressor on it and tightened it up while hot. Let it cool and the plastic seal went right back in place to original size.

Just did mine as well. I think all the way down worked for me. Either way the shaft is splined from right to left standing behind the tractor only allowing everything to go on one way. Only trouble you would get into is if the arms are off and if the shaft is though the rockshaft rod is that if you turn the shaft forward too far I think the rod could come out of the piston and bore and just hang there making you have to take it back apart again. Hope this helps.

Thanks I got it all back together now...did not fire it up. Naturally the battery is dead now. I think my tender is bad.

About to start replacing the seals on the rockshaft...I do not have a manual...any advice before I take it appart is appreciated. Thanks.

It's pretty straightforward. There are several different styles of seals that were used. You will know once you get it apart. John Saeli can assist. Here are some pictures of what mine looked like just to give you an ideal.

Here are some photos...could not load them yesterday. Good luck
