fuel pump 4894?

Last fall while ripping my tractor would act like it ran out of fuel , changed filters ,, nothing , then added a small electric inline pump hoping that would help and it did seem to help for a 100 or so acres , but then it got worse it would start great then after 10 minutes it would die or almost die and after a few seconds would run for a short time and then die, it kept getting worse till it would hardly run more than a few seconds when you started to pull something , this winter I bought a little overhaul kit Case has for hem that consisted of a couple springs and plastic plungers and gaskets , thought that might help and really no way to test till now , well it didn't help , it might start right up and even idle just fine as soon as you put a load on maybe 10 seconds or so it dies again , could it still be fuel pump ? if I open the line to the injector pump there seems to be a lot of pressure there even after its shut off , thanks for any input

Agree plus check out the A46564 pressure/check valve at top front of inj pump. NLA through CNH but still available from Bosch at Pump Shops.

it has a cable shut off , acts like it runs out of fuel , I ordered a different lift pump for it today , if I unhook lines there always seems to be a good flow, it just doesn't act like it would be injection pump , I sure hope not those things get spendy

I agree with John check for tank restrictions and make sure the glass sediment filter on the front of the pump is tight. Ive had those two issues in the past with my 2870. Good luck.

We fought this same gremlin on a combine....intermittent...like everyone else said, look for a restriction in your supply. We had an issue with the screen on the pickup in the tank getting plugged...sometimes. It would clear itself up, like the gunk would fall off after a while, or when the tank was filled..this would swash it off. I see on the parts manual the 4894 don't have an in tank screen on the pickup, but I have heard of items in the tank that don't belong in the tank covering up the intake too...This is a frustrating problem, I know. I was always going to rig up a fuel pressure light on our combine like the 30 series Cases have...
Bright side is - I highly doubt the injection pump is at fault, except check that check/regulator on the return like dwag mentioned. I've seen them with debris in them keeping the pressure down.
Good Luck

'94: I had the same issue as you w/ the glass bowl, mine loosened up, but I think w/ an electric pump pressurizing all that, it would show up as a fuel leak.

Have a friend with a Komatsu had same problem new filters added electric pump ect. I asked him if he checked the screen in the pump he said it didnt have one. well long story short he finally asked the dealer about the screen and they said yes it's in the elbow where the line attaches to the injection pump. That was it now works great.

We had a similar problem with our 2094. We checked everything. It would run fine then for no reason just power out. We checked the intake multiple times with no success. Finally as a last resort we pumped the tank empty and looked in with a strong light. Everything was clean as a pin but I spotted something in the bottom of the tank. It was a thin piece of plastic about 4 inches long by 2 inches wide. I used a pickup claw to grab it. I have no idea where it could have ever come from but it cured the problem. It was moving over the outlet hole blocking fuel under load. Pretty sure your problem is in the supply side even though you have a booster pump.

Also check fuel tank vent. Had similar problem with tandem truck. Cleaned out plugged vent hose.
