That looks slick! I bet that would have sold well had they given it a chance. I wonder what is the cylinder on the deck plate that is showing?

Would love to have that as a tractor!

those rear wheel weights are from 430/530 ect gives you a bteer idea how small that rear tire is,, I am thinking a unit about the lines of a Farmall Cub was

well that is most interesting, good matched styling . this had to be rite before david brown entered the mixup, and those plans were shelved for a rebadge of a working tooled up ready to roll david brown /case ,. I for one am glad case stuck with the 30 style as long as they did ,except I wish they kept triple range,, the hi platform of the proto type mite be nice ,, but my 430 has me hoppin on and off doing tinkering jobs around the farm ,, at 60 with neuropathy in feet and legs and then 250 lbs to lug around . I am glad when on the 430 , my feet are only 2ft off the ground ..

I say this is 1974 or after as every one I have seen are Power White rather than Desert Sunset you can see in these a 580B and more like 580C dash area/ steering colum on the 470, that puts it at the right time frame,, just my thoughts though

agreed ,tom,. white tin would make it about that year ,,. looks to be the 188 diesel and drive train all the way back to the 3 pt hitch ,, including dual steering cylindars,, one could wonder if this was a prototype that once was painted desert sunset, and not built or marketed for what ever reasons to match the the new bigger 70 series,. perhaps when Db was purchased and the white tin was adopted , it could be they painted this prototype white ,, just to test its curb appeal over david brown ,, obviously I am guessing here ,,. but yet no one really knows ,,. at least they have not come forward and wrote about the decision process here /// .most interesting would had been sittig on the case board of directors when this prototype was built ,,. guarding the company financial health at that time ,, and also finding the opportunity to buy david brown , and how that market share could be absorbed , and then how those tractors could be part of the line up,. I grew up on 430s, and was well versed with them ,summer of 72 , I helpt a strawberry farmer beyond simply pikin berries, I got to bale straw with a like new david brown and a massey baler,. I just did not like that tractor compared to pops 430 .. I t was a hot ride, the seating and pedals were poor alignment and the transmission was difficult to shift .. SINCE I am a HARD headed CASE Man ,,. I do RECALL feeling that Case really gooft when they dropt the 188 diesel over the david brown design ,,. and for a time as a young man, I wrote off case entirely in disgust and paid closer attention to the other rainbow of colors including the green an yaler ones,,. but once case gets in your blood,, yougot to come back home ,..

I also thought a bit more about these, the decal design is not early 70's but is a copy of the decals used in the Power White models as well, even the 370 has the same style ones as the 74 and after units carried, I do not know what they had in mind here but the "470" ones were shipped out of Country and not sold here, as you say we are speculating for sure I am just going by what I see, another point is they needed more loader backhoe chassis in 1970 as they were selling more than they could produce and this was a major reason for them to go with the DB line, so with that in mind why would they be building these units in 1970/71? They would not have been as the DB purchase was completed in fall 1971, Case did not have a lot of R&D $$ so it would not have made sense to me then to be throwing money at these again me thinking this out in my mind, But if you put this into the time frame I am saying they are from 74/75 era and you know the Case loader/backhoe line, you know that in 74 they were testing the very soon to be released 580C in late 74 or early 75, and you know the 580C was the first in that size to have a component frame, meaning they no longer used the 479/570 tractor to add a loader/backhoe too, this would have allowed room again for the 470/570 ag tractors again to be made and not affect loader/backhoe production numbers. But again this is just me speculating,, I have been told Harry Klein spoke of the 470 units. Maybe there is still someone left who knows the story and will join in,

I have learned long ago to nevr say never with things Case
