Case 730 CK shifter popping out of the rail

I new to the site, but seems like a lot of knowledgeable folks on here, so I'm going to seek some of that knowledge.. I have a 730 CK diesel, and when I put it in first it pops out of the shift rail... it's not stuck between gears and the tip of the shifter looks ok, I just have no clue what's causing it. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks...

There several 730 tractors.
Need serial number to narrow down the exact model.

Anyway sounds like the pin that goes through the sifter ball right at the top cover plate is worn or most likely broken.

It's a 731 if that's what you mean... if the pin is wore or missing would I be able to move the shifter up and down? It's a really decent tractor for the price, just have to get this fixed before I start discing and planting. Thanks for the info so far

Well, just to update, I bought a used shifter and it was I like new condition, never been repaired.... the one in my tractor had been and they done a terrible job of building up the tip. Put the new one in, and shifts like a dream.
