Sometimes a Bad Thing is a Good Thing

Customer dropped of a 2290 and said the RH brake does not work, fix it. OK, after some testing I came to the conclusion the disc's were stripped and removed the axle housing. Sure enough the disc's were damaged, but the sun gear and plant. gears are junk also. They would never have made it through the spring season. I knew the LH side better be checked also, yep same story. Good thing the brake failed or this would have been a broken down mess in the field. Rod.

The "2290" would pull like a "1370", if you let her, I had one customer for example that did just that, and his tractor was in the shop more then it should be. We dyno's this one and it had 156 hp. I think I sold probably over 30 of them, and all in all the ones that were pulled hard were normally in the shop more then the others.

Rod, glad your around to fix these kind of problems. Good post.

Dan after a few years production of the 1370's do you remember Case changing the sun and plant. gears to slightly larger ones? Those original smaller gears are what Case used in the 2290's. The sun shaft design was a bit different but the drive gear on the end was the same size as the early 13's. We had 22's that got pulled hard and yes trouble followed them. Rod.
