Got a 53 DC, very hard to start cold, once stated even if it's in the 50's it will start to ice up intake manifold towards carb and work up, runs fine but needs choke, is this common, or something wrong, good tractor but doesn't like cold weather

How fast does it turn with the starter, is it still 6 volt and has it had overbore sleeves and pistons to your knowledge. Icing is very common, if you must run choke the high speed jet needs adjusted, also the main discharge jet may have dirt in it. That tractor should start very easily even in very cold weather if properly prepared.

My 930 gas does the same thing. Depending on
how cold it is it will start abnormally slow
but still starts right up. They will all
have that issue with the frost. Our farmalls
and other cases like the sc will do the
same.
