Father in law has a 1070 Case that he thinks needs a hydraulic pump. He says he's replaced it 2 or 3 times with no luck but says he bought them at auctions. Money is a little tight in his world and he's delt without a tractor on a beef farm for 4-5 years. We have a 970 Case at work sitting in the weeds I think I can pick the pump up pretty cheap, but I have questions. Will a pump from a 970 fit a 1070? And is there a way to check if the pump is good before I ship it 850 miles to my father in laws? Also is there anything I need to know about removing and replacing the pump or is it as simple as removing the two lines on the side and the 6 or 8 bolts that hold the pump to the rear of the tractor and pull it out? thank you for your time!

770-1175 all use the same pump,, BUT it sounds like this may not be his issue we need to know why he thinks he has a pump issue,, type of trans,, what is it not doing ect if he is having low psi at the remotes that can be a few things and not pump related, more info please it may well save him some money,, and there are new aftermarket pumps available today as well

Does he know enough about the system to get the sealing ring in place each time he replaces a pump? Auction pumps are most likely shot pumps
that a farmer put back in the box and put on the shelf. Like Cnt said you need to check output at the couplers....which brings up the subject
of him knowing how the circuits work. Top left and top right make a operating circuit on those tractors.

The pump is rather easy to replace but before you do that I would have someone pressure and flow test the pump. As others have said the pump maybe OK and the problem
could easily be in the remote valve. Could save the cost of another pump. If you did buy a used pump I would have that tested also, it to could be worn out. Just my 2
cents, Rod.

I'm guessing no. He doesn't seem to be real mechanically inclined. Can you please explain to me the sealing ring? I'm a Massey Mechanic and I farm with Deere's so I have not delt with a pump like this yet. Also he says he has no steering or brakes. I plan to take a pressure gauge up with me next time I visit to check pressure at remotes. Any other Ideas? I've never even drove a case so I'm very dumb to these models.

If steering and brakes do not work it is possible the pump is faulty. When you have the pump out crank the engine and have someone watch to make sure the drive shaft that
drives the pump is turning. Rod.

It is possible that the pump is not being driven by a worn out spline fitting in the PTO assembly. That happened on our 1070 w/ straight 8 speed. No steering/no brakes/no PTO. Don

Do you think it could be a relief valve?
