was disking back in the fall something popped and tractor stopped moving hydraulics power steering and pto all still work split tractor thinking torque limiter plate but its all together some of the springs are broke pulled rear pto cover off today and differential looks good any ideas

On the thinger that your PTO lever is hooked onto on the side of the tractor under the cab there are hydraulic spools. If one of these valves gets stuck you might hear a bit of a pop, steering and pto will work but you will go nowhere. take the spools out and make sure they run smoothly and there are no pins broken off or crud in the system. the one with the roll pin holding it in is most likely the culprit. The unit you are looking for is farther to the back of the tractor from your powershift block and there is a hose/pipe that runs from it to the powershift block. This is not a "for sure" fix but is the cheapest thing to check out.

My apologies for the lack of proper descriptive words for the parts but hopefully you get the idea.

Torque tube/pipe through power shift broke. Pto
shaft through poweshift still working but power shift
won't allow power to gears. Just guessing without
looking at it. Seen several 1370 with it broke and I
think I have a 4690 that that happened to but
haven't split it yet. Like I said just guessing

I would be taking a closer look at the torque limiter plate. If you have broken springs the hub may be sheared from the plate. I have never seen a power shift input shaft on a newer 970 sheared off, even on the turboed units that we built. I have however seen them twist off on 1370s.
Before you take some of the other advise start checking hyd. pressures on the power shift valve ports for the various clutch packs, or at least put tractor in neutral and watch the gage on the dash as you shift the lever from clutch down, to reverse and 1-3. Let us know what the gauge is doing in each position.

We have to assume this is a Power Shift tractor and the differential is good. Start tractor and depress clutch, it should do the grunt thing, if not the PS is not turning
meaning limiter failure or input shaft. If it does grunt the most likely thing would be that the three bolts securing the drive gear on the trans sliding gear shaft
broke. This allows the shaft to go rearward and the gear falls off the shaft. Either failure requires the tractor to be split and you will find the problem anyway when
you do that. Rod.

If the engine is surging that tells us the Power Shift is turning, the problem would be between the PS and the Diff. Only way to examine those parts in between is to split the tractor and start digging in. Not a easy job if you have not attempted this type of repair before. Rod.
